Green Forest second-grader Jaydan Kerby, 7, checks out a wooly worm caught on her Grandpa Rob Kerby's front porch. What kind of winter is in store for Carroll County? Forget the National Weather Service or the Farmer's Almanac, say those who believe in winter prognostications based on wooly worms. Brown with sparce black bands, they say, means a very easy winter. Dark, thick, black bands mean a hard winter. Jaydan reports her wooly worm had thick, black bands with almost no brown. Photo submitted
