According to a press release issued by Berryville Police Det. Robert Bartos, the Arkansas State Crime Lab positively identified the body on Wednesday.
In the press release, Bartos said Helmlinger was last seen by family members Sept. 27. He was reported missing Oct. 4, and his shallow grave was discovered Oct. 18.
Police Chief Dave Muniz had confirmed earlier in the week that investigators were working in a heavily wooded area behind the Glen Echo Trailer Park, located on Hailey Road in Berryville.
He said a citizen out walking on Sunday had come across what appeared to be "a strange mound" and contacted authorities.
Investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office joined with Berryville police at the scene, he said, which was determined to be inside Berryville city limits.
Losing daylight, Muniz said the scene was secured for the night and investigators returned the next day, with Berryville's Det. Bartos taking the lead and CCSO investigators assisting.
Muniz noted that he and Bartos are both certified in forensic anthropology.
The body was removed from its shallow grave by day's end, and transported to the state crime lab in Little Rock.
Information regarding Helmlinger's disappearance was released last week by CCSO Capt. Alan Hoos before the shallow grave was found.
Hoos said at the time that the young man's mother, Karla Davis, had reported him missing, saying he was at her Cedarvale home in Berryville after church on Sunday, Sept. 27, and he departed on foot that evening, believed to be walking to the Pension Mountain home where he lived with his grandmother Betty Davis, located south of Berryville.
Hoos said Helmlinger's mother contacted authorities when he didn't show up and hadn't been seen since.
As of press time, no other information regarding the investigation into Helmlinger's death was available.
Anyone with any information concerning the case is asked to contact the Berryville Police Department at (870) 423-3343.

I am not sure if this will help or if you already know, but i was looking at older posts on Chris's facebook. I went back as far as his birthday (Sept 20th) and seen that on October 3rd (the day before he was reported missing) he accepted a friend request. So....where was he from Sept. 27th to Oct. 03? Is there a way to find out where he logged in from? Again, authorities may have already thought of this, but i thought i would try. Thank You
It is sad what has happen to him. I didnt know him but i do feel for the family. We was shock to hear that they found him. We live in the trailer court where they found his body. Its very scarey that something like this would happen near here. I have children myself and i do worry about them. I would be sad and upset if that happen to my children. I will pray for the family of their lost. God Bless You
Over the past months and years the trailer court been busy with so much cars going in and out of this trailer court. Its hard to get sleep with cars coming in around 2 or 3 a.m. in the morning even with loud music too. The trailer court has been quiet since the police have been watching the area and it feels safe now.
I hope in time they will know what happen to the man that was found here. I have talk to people in town and alot of them knew this man. They said he was a good person. There is so many people that has live in this trailer court half the time they cause trouble or been kick out. On weekends it does get busy with cars coming in this area. But i am glad the police are around and it i feel safe and my children. I hope they will continue to stay around more. I want to thank them for that.
