GREEN FOREST -- The Lady Tiger volleyball team had out of town guests Monday when the Blue Eye, Mo., Lady Bulldogs stopped in for varsity and JV games.
Green Forest (16-1, 11-0) got a challenge the first varsity game, which went to 31-29 in overtime before the Lady Tigers pulled out a win. They lost the second game 19-25, then won the match 25-22 in another close nailbiter.
"We just played best out of three, which is Missouri rules," Coach Trista Killingsworth said. "There were a lot of hits and digs by both teams, but not a lot of kills."
Both teams defended big hits, set it up, and fired hits right back, which made the match seem longer than three games. Blue Eye swept the JV game, 25-23, 25-17.
"They're good, came from behind the first game and won," Killingsworth said about Blue Eye's JV.
Varsity Action
Rebecca Larimer started the match off right by serving for the first seven points.
"After seven points, it was point for point," Killingsworth said. "Rebecca served well, and Emily Campbell had some hard serves."
In game one, Kristen Anderson had 4 kills and 3 digs, Megan Barinsky a kill and 4 digs, Jackie Webb 6 digs, and Elizabeth Booth 6 assists.
In game two, Campbell served points 11, 12, and 13, but Killingsworth said " We gave up three points quick," and Blue Eye took that game.
Anderson had 2 kills, Carley Arnold 2 assists, Jackie Webb 10 digs, and Kara Heads 5 digs.
In game three, Arnold scored the first 5 points off serve, with Heads serving hard to win the last two points. Heads had 2 kills and 6 digs, Anderson 2 kills and 4 digs, Campbell 2 kills, and Arnold 7 assists.
JV Action- Coach said Kaleigh Evans and Shelby Horton served well, with Evans getting 2 kills and 7 digs, and Horton 5 kills and 15 digs.
