Berryville 7th 3-0 with win over Tigers

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

GREEN FOREST -- A pouring rain didn't stop the Berryville and Green Forest seventh grade football teams from battling it out on Thursday.

When the mud had settled, the Bobcats had a 16-6 win to fatten their record to 3-0.

"Dillon Hughes scored out two touchdowns, from about 40 and 55 yards," Junior Bobcat coach Josh Nation said. "I used Tate Ferguson at quarterback the first half, then Garrett Stone the second and Tate to fullback.

"Richard Webb also played some fullback. I thought our defensive line played well. They were firing off."

Junior Tiger coach Ryan Whetham said, "We were down 8-0 at the half, but Anthony Tibbets scored on a quarterback sneak after a long drive the second half.

"I thought Kevin Smith at halfback ran the ball hard, and Ian Farar blocked well at center on that quarterback sneak. Riley Walker at offensive guard blocked well.

"On defense, tackles Kevin Smith and Derek Doty played well," Whetham said.
