Lady Bobcats even record vs Hawks

BERRYVILLE -- The Lady Bobcat volleyball varsity evened its record at 2-2 Thursday with a sweep of the Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawk squad.

Berryville won all three matches from Pea Ridge's first year program, with the varsity taking 25-4, 25-3 and 25-4 wins. The JV won 25-7, 25-13, then played an extra game to 15 to give Pea Ridge players more experience. The junior high won 25-10, 25-17.

The teams travel to Huntsville today for 4A-1 Conference action.

Varsity Action

Pea Ridge wasn't ready for Berryville's accurate servers, so the Lady Bobcat aces piled up. In game one, Jessie Phillips served 15 points in a row, then served out the second game from 12 points to 25, with most of them aces.

Lindsey Newberry served out game one with 5 aces, with Candace Eaves starting game two with 5 aces.

In game three Phillips served for 5 more, Elise Holman 8 in a row, then Eaves served the game out with 7 well placed shots.

Holman had 3 kills in game one, with Newberry getting 2 kills in game three.

JV- Jody King served 13 points in a row in game one and had 11 aces, and Kaylee Edens had 3 kills. In game two, Kayla McCullough had 5 points off serve.

"A new girl, Kaley Witherby, has improved, and Ashley Edens is coming on, getting her serves down low," Coach Kristin Whetham said.

Junior High- "We served will," Whetham said. "Emily Trowbridge served from point 15 to 25 to win the first game. MaKenna Gerster had two kills and Abby Teague a kill and block in the match."

The junior high record was 3-2 after the match.
