HARRISON -- First National Bank of Green Forest Babe Ruth team lost a squeaker against Sullivan Pharmacy on June 11 while Coach Tony Coffey was on a mission trip to Texas, then dropped the second game of a doubleheader to Villines Lock and Key.

David Fredrick and Donnie Byers stepped into Coffey's shoes during his absence, but the team had a streak of run-ruled losses to greet Coffey when he returned.

Against Sullivan Pharmacy, the game was tied going into the final inning, but a late hit gave Sullivan the win. First National played Villines Lock and Key for the second game of the night and took a loss.

On June 16 the team faced TKO-8 from Bergman first in a doubleheader and again were run-ruled. Donnie Hoppe pitched, with Gus Byers behind the plate. Colby Burnett finished the final inning on the mound.

"Hoppe threw well enough to win, but he had no defense behind him," Coach Coffey said.

In game two First Nation was run-ruled by Burlsworth and Associates, with Burnett pitching two innings and Devin Taylor finishing.

"We hit the ball better," Coffey said. "The kids have to start believing in themselves. They're a better ball club than they're showing."

The team faces Sullivan Pharmacy on Tuesday in their next outing.
