Carroll County News Webmaster and reporter Kathryn Lucariello was injured in a head-on collision on Onyx Cave Road east of Eureka Springs Monday evening. Three occupants of the other vehicle also sustained injuries, but none were believed to be life-threatening, the Carroll County Sheriff's Department reported. That vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee, driven by Koahama Nott. Her passengers were Derrek Jester and a juvenile female, authorities said.

Lucariello, driving a GMC pickup, had to be extricated from the vehicle by EMTs using a Jaws of Life. Her injuries included a broken ankle and severe lacerations, the sheriff's department reported.

Lucariello and Nott were air-lifted to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. The two other occupants of the Cherokee were taken by ambulance to Eureka Springs Hospital.
