Gus Hollis Bryant

Gus Hollis Bryant, a resident of Rogers, AR, was born November 15, 1920 in Locust Bayou, AR, to Oris S. and Lucy G. (Hollis) Bryant. He departed this life Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, AR at the age of 88.

Mr. Bryant attended the Church of Christ in Bentonville, AR. He also served in the United States Navy during World War II. Gus was a member of the Green Forest Lions Club, Civil Service, the Arkansas Bankers Association and served as a Draft Board Member. He was very active in church ministries and community service. He retired from the First National Bank of Green Forest where he served as a loan officer.

Mr. Bryant is survived by his second wife, Dorotha J. Bryant of the home, one son, Stephen Hollis Bryant and wife Beverly of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Linda Ann (Bryant) and husband Randy Holman of Bentonville, AR and Susan (Bryant) and husband Ron Foshee of Catoosa, OK; several grandchildren including, Pamela and husband Ray Dunn of Birmingham, AL, Michael Jon Holman and wife Shannon of Bella Vista, AR, Robert H. Bryant of Panama City, FL, Jonathon B. Holman and wife Catie of Searcy, AR, Christopher L. Holman of Bentonville, AR, Kacey C. and husband Charles Apple of Lowell, AR, Stefanie B. Churchwell of Washington, D.C., Christian L. Foshee and wife Kristen of Fayetteville, AR and Caleb M. Foshee of Searcy, AR; great-grandchildren include, Holly Eden Summers, Easton Burke Bryant and Callie Rose Holman; one brother, Oris S. Bryant Jr. and one sister, Susie Floyd.

On June 10, 1947, he was united in marriage with his first wife Melba Lee Wagner, who preceded him in death on March 24, 2001. He was also preceded by his parents, one sister, Alice Stokes and one brother, James R. Bryant.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19 in the Great Hall at the Church of Christ in Bentonville, AR. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Church of Christ in Bentonville, AR. A short funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Nelson's Green Forest Chapel in Green Forest, AR. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
