U.S. Representatives Roy Blunt and John Boozman have announced that they will host a Congressional Water Watch event from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, April 16, at the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies on the Bentonville campus of NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
The event will include presentations from special guests on topics such as the new Arkansas-Missouri Bi-State Water Agreement, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water use allocations, and private initiatives to protect regional water quality. The audience and congressmen will ask questions following each presentation.
"This meeting will allow us and the leaders of our communities to learn more about ongoing public and private efforts to improve and protect water quality in the Ozarks," Rep. Boozman said. "I am especially interested in hearing how our states will carry out the agreement that was recently signed by our Governors, how the Corps of Engineers manages water resources, and how ongoing efforts of private watershed protection groups can be carried out in cooperation with the communities they intend to serve."
In 2008 the congressmen conducted a field hearing at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.
