CARROLL COUNTY -- Some soccer teams were in action this past week, with a few results reported by coaches. Here's what reached the sports desk.

The Tigers played the Rogers Heritage JV teams on Friday, Feb. 20, with Lady Tiger coach Ryan Whetham reporting that the girls lost 8-0 and the boys 2-1.

"It was against a 7A school, but I was disappointed," Whetham said. "We had no shot on goal in the 60 minutes. The clock ran the second half and we only played 20 minutes. It wasn't a good game."

Tiger coach Juan Zuazua did not report any results.

The Tigers hosted Clarksville on Tuesday, Feb. 2, with the girls losing 5-3 in a close game and the boys 1-0.

In girls action, it was 3-3 at halftime after Green Forest led 2-0 in the first 25 minutes of the game.

"We gave them a couple of easy goals," Coach Whetham said. "Irma Castillo, our top scorer, injured an ankle the first half, didn't return, and we got down."

Coach said Meyling Bustante scored 2 goals and Estefani Reyo one. Clarksville scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to pull ahead.

"I sent Jackie Webb to goalie, her first time, and she did good," Whetham noted.

The Highlanders don't have all their players yet as some are still in the basketball playoffs, but two games have been completed.

The teams opened the season against Clarksville, a 4A squad, on Friday, Feb. 20, with the girls losing 5-0, and the boys 6-0.

Games were scheduled with Decatur on Tuesday, but no report was available from Coach Mike Smith. School officials said the boys tied 1-1, with the girls winning 3-1.

The teams are scheduled to play today at Huntsville.
