KINGSTON -- The Green Forest junior high girls basketball team was on a roll, racking up another win last Thursday night against the Kingston Yellowjackets.

Coach Kyle Farrar's squad defeated Kingston 40-33 in a tight game with Nikki Mullen scoring 14 and making 6 of 6 free throws.

Coach Bill Niven's junior boys also played a close one but let the game get away in the fourth quarter and lost 34-52.

"Our defense was good and everyone played really well," Coach Farrar said. "Our second half defense was good, shut them down. Two of their top scorers had zero points. Nikki hit some big free throws."

Five Lady Tigers scored similar points, with Farrar saying, "When five score that close, your offense is balanced."

"Kingston is a good team. They finished second in the Berryville junior high tournament," Coach Niven said. "They played a good 1-3-1 defense and pressed, which is pretty effective in that small gym. We handled their press and played close, within two or three points, then let it get away the fourth quarter.

"We had to go man and we aren't real good at it," Niven said. "Gus Byers scored six points and was 2 of 2 at the line. He did a pretty good job. They all did well, played good defense."

Scoring- GF- Jeff Adams- 8; Brian Badley- 7; Byers- 6, 2/2 Fts; 5's- Donnie Hoppe, Aaron Fitchue; Chris Cox- 2. KN- Riley- 12; Emmitt- 11; Davidson- 10.
