Martha Steidley Stark

MARTHA STEIDLEY STARK, a resident of Berryville, was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Green Forest, a daughter of Edward Gordon and Lillie (Jones) Steidley. She died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Berryville, at the age of 86.

Ms. Stark is survived by one daughter, Carole and husband John Powell of Green Forest; one granddaughter, Cheryl (Powell) and husband Todd Johnson of Van Buren; one grandson, Randall Powell and wife Venus of Picayune, Miss.; three great-grandsons, Xander Johnson, Parker Johnson and Johnathan Powell; one brother, Ben Steidley of Juno, Alaska; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

On Nov. 3, 1938, she was united in marriage with Oscar Jay Stark, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; eight brothers, Burt, Paul, Eddie, Jessie, Alvie, Gordon, Ted and Freddie; and one sister, Rita Maples.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Brother Marvin Emmons officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
