Windy work at Piney Creek

Friday, January 2, 2009
Attempting to keep his balance while breezy conditions prevailed Tuesday was a member of the Graham Construction crew, which was working on a new bridge over Piney Creek near the Ronnie and Pam Webb farm in the southern part of the county. It is one of several bridge projects in the Carroll County to quality for state and federal disaster funding (87.5 percent) after repeated heavy rains damaged roads and bridges. Another south county bridge project, along Carroll Road 933 near Osage and the Kenny Underdown farm, will be completed by county road crews using side-by-side matched metal-floored flatbed railroad cars handpicked by the county road foreman. Work on it was delayed again when abundant rains last weekend washed out the temporary creek crossing. Anna Mathews / Carroll County News
