Sylvia M. Palmer

SYLVA M. PALMER, 81, of Green Forest, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at St. John's Hospital -- Berryville. She was born June 12, 1927, in Stockton, Calif., to the late Claude Russell and Annie (Jones) Russell.

On Sept. 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jim H. Palmer and to this union three children were born. Sylva was very devoted to her family, enjoyed horseback riding, dancing and was a talented seamstress.

She is survived by three sons, Miles R. Palmer and wife Kathy of Great Falls, Va., Lyle J. Palmer and wife Becky of Green Forest, and Van L. Palmer of Green Forest; two brothers, Tommy Russell of Green Forest and Ferrell Russell of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Aric, Kira, Oliver, and Steven; and one great-grandson, Dillon Palmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Palmer, in 2001; her parents, Claude and Annie Russell; and three brothers, Marvin, Merle and E.S. Russell.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Smith Family Funeral Home, Green Forest.
