Lady Tigers win opener at Flippin
FLIPPIN -- The Green Forest Lady Tigers made their first game in the Flippin Invitational Tournament pay off Wednesday with a 52-47 win over Norfork.
That earned them a match-up with the Melbourne Lady Bearkatz on Thursday, with a victory there sending them to the championship game on Saturday.
Green Forest (2-0) got 16 points from Carley Arnold, who hit 3 3-points shots and was 3 of 5 at the line. Katie Heads netted 13, with the team making 7 of 14 free throws.
The Lady Tigers led 10-8, 26-20, and 43-31 during the game, but Norfork's big post player was unstoppable, scoring 28 points.
"She was like a bull in a china shop," Coach Kyle Farrar said. "She was good at what she did. For us, Carley shot the ball really well, looked to shoot more than I've seen.
"We had seven players score, but our biggest problem was really bad foul trouble against their big girl. We had turnovers, were trying to make one more pass and we'd throw it away," Farrar said.
"But I told the girls, we're 2-0 and have played together. I'm really excited about that."
