Mr. Summers attended school in Levelland and Brownfield, Texas. He graduated from the Navy Lab School in Corpus Christi in 1962. Danny moved from Fort Worth to Tahoka in 1970. He was a lab and X-ray Tech at Lynn County Hospital from 1971 until his retirement in 1992.
He married Joyce Goldston in Brownfield on Dec. 26, 1959. He was a member of Sweet Street Baptist Church and a deacon. Danny served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; six sons, Lee of Midland, Texas, Joe of Eureka Springs, David of Fort Lee, Va., Randy of Las Vegas, Nev., and Stephen and Dale of Berryville; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ike, of Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ronny.
The family greeted friends on Wednesday evening, Sept. 3, at White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Sep. 4, 2008, at Sweet Street Baptist Church in Tahoka, with Rev. Lynn Long officiating. Interment followed in Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Sweet Street Baptist Church at 1300 Ave. J, Tahoka, Texas 79373, or Hospice of Lubbock at 1102 Slide Road, Ste 3, Lubbock, Texas 79416.
