HUGO ERNEST TROST, a resident of Green Forest, was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Butler, Okla., a son of Edward and Minnie (Kauk) Trost. He died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 92.

Hugo joined the CCC in the late 1930s and worked various locations including Jasper, Ark., and Kooskia, Idaho. In 1947 Hugo started working for Kraft Foods and worked there until his retirement in 1975. After retiring from Kraft, he went back to farming on the family farm in the Snow Community. He and Ellen remained on the farm until 1991, when they moved to their present home in Green Forest.

On March 11, 1940, Hugo was united in marriage with Ellen Coatney, who survives him of the home after 68 years of marriage. He is also survived by one daughter, Joyce and husband Nelson Mackey of Ozark, Mo.; two sons, Kenneth Trost and wife Pam of Rupert, Idaho, and Eldon Trost and wife Jan of Berryville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Trost was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walter, Edward and Calvin Trost.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008 prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Berryville with Brother Wayne Writer officiating. Interment will follow in the Fair Grove Cemetery near Green Forest under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
