BERRYVILLE -- First Baptist Church, 510 East Madison, Berryville will condcut revival services Aug. 25-29 at 7 p.m. nightly.

Pastor Steve Westbrook writes, "Revival is a title some might consider old fashioned, since it was widely used in past generations to refer to the week-long singing and preaching meetings held by churches, usually in the summer. In the days before mass media and entertainment outlets, these meetings were major social events of the community drawing large crowds to hear the inspiring music, and impassioned preaching, and just to mix and mingle with the folks in the community. Webster defines revival as bringing, or coming back into use. It also means bringing back to life. The term obviously has tremendously positive implications. We invite the community of Berryville to come to First Baptist for revival."

The speaker for the week with be John Howard Jr., pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. Celebrating his 30th year in the ministry, Howard has served as pastor of four churches, and has led in sending out five missionaries.

Pastor Howard writes, "My theme for the week will be 'Let Down Your Net,' stressing the Biblical mandate for individual Christians and churches being equipped and prepared to bring human beings to safety in God's great spiritual ship of salvation and service. The last night will be Evangelistic Friday, with the message being focused toward those who are not yet Christians, but interested in understanding what it means to experience a relationship with Christ."
