Mr. Dickey was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He also worked for the McDonald Douglas Corporation, working on fighter planes. He worked on the F-4 Phantom fighter jet, the Mercury space program, the Gemini space program, and Skylab.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Dickey and wife Ellen of Lead Hill, and Michael Dickey of Rogersville, Mo.; one daughter, Judy and husband Kevin Sullivan of Derby, Kan.; one sister, Nelda Burrow of Benton; one brother, Wayne Dickey and wife Joyce of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-step-grandchildren; and his companion of 21 years, Maria Cisco and family of Berryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph Dickey, Ford Dickey, and Carl Dickey.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Rule Cemetery with Pastor Tim Garrison officiating under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
