BILLIE DEAN COOPER, a resident of Green Forest, was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Eldorado, Kan., a son of Harold Delbert and Emma (Harlan) Cooper. He died Sunday, July 27, 2008, in Green Forest, at the age of 78.

Mr. Cooper was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Coin Church and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Cooper is survived by one son, Marvin Dewayne Cooper of Green Forest; one daughter, Petronela Brown of Baxter Springs, Kan.; one sister, Louise Wood of Grandview; four grandchildren, Tracy (West) Ward of Green Forest, Robert Cooper of Green Forest, Eric Cooper of Fort Stewart, Ga., and Jesse Cooper of Alpena; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

On Jan. 5, 1956, he was united in marriage with Nancy K. Cooper, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents and one brother, Harold Norman Cooper.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Brother David Maybee officiating.
