JOHN BOYD SMITH, JR., a resident of Green Forest, was born Nov. 6, 1951, in Green Forest, a son of John Boyd Sr. and Etheleen (Heard) Smith. He died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Green Forest, at the age of 56.

Mr. Smith was a veteran, having served in the United State Army, Coast Guard, and Army National Guard. He served during the Vietnam War. He was also a custodian at Green Forest High School.

He is survived by one son, Nathan Smith and wife Lauren Nicole of Rogersville, Mo.; one daughter, Amanda Jean and husband Jeff Teague of Berryville; one sister, Donna and husband Johnny Elmore of Green Forest; two brothers, Tom Smith and wife Susan of Point Lookout, Mo., and Joseph Lee Smith of Green Forest; his father, John Boyd Smith, Sr. of Green Forest; four grandchildren; two nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m.. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Pastor Gary Hayhurst officiating.
