GLORIA HITT, age 82, of Green Forest passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born in Rockwood, Tenn., on Sept. 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles Montgomery and Maria Troxtell Montgomery.

On June 18, 1963, she was united in marriage to Chuck Hitt. They made their home in California and in April 1991 they moved to Green Forest. Mrs. Hitt owned and operated Gloria's County Kitchen in San Francisco Calif., for several years. Her favorite hobby was cooking and she was known throughout the area for her cooking talent.

She is survived by her husband Chuck Hitt of the home; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Bill Montgomery, Gene Montgomery and Freddie Conner, and two sisters Odette Piscia and Jerry Boyum.

A visitation gathering was held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest on Wednesday, June 25. Services will be held at a later date in Culpeper, Va., by Found and Sons Funeral Home, with interment at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
