John Getman, 49, of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home. He was born on Nov. 1, 1958, in San Jose, Calif., to John Getman and Beverly "Wilson" Getman.

After graduating from high school, Getman served his county in the U.S. Army. On Sept. 1, 1995, he was united in marriage to Terry Mintle. Before becoming disabled, he worked as a saw operator at Claridge Products in Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Mintle Getman, of the home; daughters Misty Hampton of Berryville, Melissa Getman of Green Forest, Jasmine Getman of Oregon; sons Jonathan Getman of Berryville, Gary Getman of the home, and Anthony Getman of Colorado; his father, John Getman of New York City; brother Oran Getman and wife Pam of Harrison; and sister Denise Getman of Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Celebration of Life services will he held at 10 a.m. on June 28 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Chaplain Kerry Liggett officiating.
