Warning! To booster club advertisers

Friday, June 13, 2008

CARROLL COUNTY -- Once again out of county telemarketers are soliciting ads in support of local athletics, but the money doesn't end up with local programs.

Local sports booster clubs usually contact in person, or send a letter with the name of a local booster club member who can be contacted. That money stays home.

Telemarketers offer advertising on T-shirts or cups, a minimal expense to them, while thousands of dollars are collected that never benefit school programs.

School officials in Carroll County have asked that if you are contacted by phone and don't know the person soliciting an ad, contact your local high school office to check it out.
