Umbrellas for Eureka Spring rains

Friday, June 13, 2008
Cathy Harris of the Eureka Springs Art Colony shows off an umbrella stand (with accompanying overhead arty umbrellas) at the colony that are provided for visitors in case it rains. There are several stands all over town where they can return the umbrellas when the sun comes out 10 minutes later, Harris said. Visitors are encouraged to sign their names and hometowns on the umbrellas. Harris solicited donations from banks and businesses for the goodwill project. Besides being at the Art Colony at 185 N. Main St., umbrella pickup and dropoff stands can be found at City Hall at 44 S. Main, the Crescent Hotel at 75 Prospect Ave., Basin Park Hotel at 12 Spring St., the Chamber of Commerce at 516 Village Circle and at other soon-to-be placed locations.
