FREELEN EVELYN SMELLEY, 85, of Kingston, died March 20, 2008, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. She was born Aug. 18, 1922, at Kingston, the daughter of Sid and Hope Parker Sugg. She was a public school teacher and a member of the Kingston First Southern Baptist Church. She was the widow of William G. Smelley, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1988.

Survivors include one son, James William Smelley of Fort Smith; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra Lynn and Chad Watson of Kingston; one sister, Fern McCollough of Kingston; two grandsons, Billy James Smelley of Lebanon, Mo., and Clifton Watson of Kingston; one granddaughter, Mandy Musser of Lebanon, Mo.; one great-grandson, Xavier Musser of Lebanon; and one great-granddaughter, Kayin Musser of Lebanon.

Funeral services were to be held on Tuesday, March 25, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Hartness officiating. Interment was to be in the Kingston Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
