CHARLES THEODORE LERAY JR., 92, of Roscommon, Mich., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Grayling, Mich. He was born Feb. 28, 1915, in New Baltimore, Mich., to Charles Theodore and Irene (Meldrum) LeRay.

He was a former employee of the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce, and moved to Roscommon in 2002. He also served the the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, and worked as a mechanic on both boats and automobiles. He was a member of First Congregational Church, of Roscommon.

He is survived by three sons, Jerry LeRay, and wife, Betty, of Roscommon, Terry LeRay, and wife Sandy, of Anchorville, Mich, and Larry LeRay and wife, Lori, of Freesoil, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Benke, of Algonac, Mich.; two nephews, David Benke, of Algonac, and Richard Benke, of Florida; and a niece, Shirley Ann Geier, of New Baltimore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lucille LeRay.

Services were scheduled at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Anchorville, under the direction of Walsh Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice.
