LAWRENCE AGUSTUS MARLER JR., a resident of Eureka Springs, was born June 19, 1924, in Greenville, Miss., a son of Lawrence A. Sr. and Florence B. (Smith) Marler. He died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in Eureka Springs, at the age of 83.

Mr. Marler was of the United Methodist faith. He was a member of the American Legion and also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas Marler and wife Patty of Memphis, Tenn., and Jamer Marler and wife Tina of River Pines, Calif.; three grandchildren, Pamela Ann Matsunga and Rory Marler of California and Crystal and husband Douglas Gunnels of Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Carolyn Marler Mayer of Houston, Texas, and Mary Hilan Marler Irby of Richardson, Texas; and a host of friends.

On Dec. 30, 1944, he was united in marriage with Edna Christine Duke, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Truman Marler; and two grandchildren, Thomas Duke Marler Jr. and Cassandra Marler.

Graveside services were to be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Eureka Springs Cemetery with Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Interment was to follow in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
