LYLA JOYCE CARMICAL, a resident of Sacramento, Calif., was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Ava, Mo., a daughter of Oscar and Louise Sanders. She died Dec. 21, 2007, in Sacramento, at the age of 77.

On May 23, 1947, she was united in marriage with Freddie E. "John" Carmical. Lyla worked as a supervisor for Campbell's Soup in Sacramento for many years. They then moved to Arkansas and bought a farm. They also owned and operated the Bridgeview Motel in Blue Eye, Mo. Lyla also worked at Tyson Foods of Green Forest.

She is survived by one son, John S. Carmical of Sacramento, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Bill; and her step-mother.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Blue Eye Cemetery with Brother Kenny Asbury officiating under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
