BETTY JANE REED SHUDY, 73, of Green Forest, died Dec. 12, 2007, on her 54th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Hank" Shudy, who died Dec. 14, 2006. They had lived in Green Forest since 1974.

She was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Ladd, Ark., to the late Edgar Hollis and Iris Kesterson Reed. She was a retired secretary and medical transcriptionist. Mrs. Shudy was a member of the Green Forest First United Methodist Church and the Boone County and St. John's -- Berryville Hospital Auxiliaries.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Ray Reed; and one sister, Thelma Dean Spakes.

Survivors include one son, Michael Shudy and wife Louan of Green Forest; one daughter, Nancy Dreher and husband Jimmy of Star City; one brother, Edgar "Ed" Reed, Jr. of Greers Ferry; one sister, Imogene Butcho of England; and three grandchildren, Jehiel Shudy, Ashley Dreher, and Shelby Dreher.

Funeral services were held Dec. 14, 2007 at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Doug Criss officiated. Burial was in Rowell Cemetery at Rowell. Memorials may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave. Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
