NEWTON ARTHUR MINER, 84, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in Springdale.

He was born Feb. 23, 1923, the son of Enoch Newton and Freda C. Michelfelder Miner.

He was a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in English literature. He was employed as chief appraiser with the federal government and later was an independent appraiser. He wrote poetry and had many pieces published.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Miner; seven sons, Reid Miner of North Carolina, Jay Miner of Washington state, Jim Miner of California, Newton Miner, Jr. and Phillip Miner both of Arkansas, Brian Miner and John Miner, both of Virginia; two daughters, Martha Clausman of Pennsylvania, and Carol Smith of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation was by Moore's Chapel. A memorial service will be held in Fredericksburg, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, AR 72762.
