Donald Knox Goshay

DONALD KNOX GOSHAY, of Golden, Mo., died Dec. 15, 2007, at his home in Emerald Beach. Mr. Goshay was born May 28, 1928, in Hollywood, Calif. to the late Donald and Mary Goshay.

Donald served during WW II in the U.S. Army and also in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a graduate of Hollywood High School and the University of California at Los Angeles with degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering.

Mr. Goshay was a registered professional engineer in both California and Missouri. He was employed by Douglas Aircraft as a research engineer during the early space program. He was one of 50 scientists to go on an expedition for National Geographic to observe the eclipse of the sun. He was last employed as director of engineering for the McCullough Corporation in Los Angeles.

On Oct. 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to Helen Wiczenski. In his spare time Donald enjoyed boating, piloting and was a radio ham operator. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Helen, of the home; two sons, William and Edward Goshay of California; one daughter, Marie Main of California; two brothers, Robert Goshay and Michael Goshay; two sisters, Marguarite O'Donnell of California and Loraine Stahr of Oregon; nine grandchildren; one step-daughter, Trisha and her husband Richard Espolt of Georgetown, Texas; and one step-grandson, Jeffrey Foster of Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one step-grandson, Garrett Foster.

Celebration of life memorial services were to be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Rock United Methodist Church, Eagle Rock, Mo., with Rev. Nancy Wilson officiating. A private family graveside interment will follow. Services were arranged by Smith Family Funeral Home of Green Forest.
