WINNIE REA THOMPSON, 92, formerly of Green Forest, passed away Dec. 1, 2007, at Magnolia Square, Springfield, Mo. She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Green Forest, AR, a daughter of Burton Monroe and Ada Gertrude Leatherbury Disheroon.

She graduated in 1935 from Alpena High School. After graduation she married Dean Thompson at Green Forest, Jan. 6, 1936. They were dairy farmers in Alpena and were selected Boone County Farm Family of the Year in the 1950s. In 1971, the Thompsons retired and moved to Green Forest.

She loved to sew, enjoyed her family and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Green Forest, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women s Missionary Union.

She was united in marriage with Mansel Dean Thompson Jan. 6, 1936, at Green Forest. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Carroll and Herman Disheroon, and one sister Fredia Usrey.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Buell and husband Jack C. Buell, two grandchildren Anthony Brian Buell, Teri Buell Watts and her husband Michael C. Watts all of Republic, Mo.; one sister Mae Disheroon and one brother Earl Disheroon of Harrison.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in the Nelson Green Forest Chapel with interment in the Alpena Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Ward, Anthony Brian Buell, Michael Charles Watts, Mike Disheroon, and Steve Kimbrough.
