LORENE CONFER, a resident of Holiday Island, was born July 10, 1924, in Medicine Lodge, Kan., a daughter of Delmar Lee Cap and Nellie (Johnson) Fowler. She died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in Springdale, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Confer was a member of the Eastern Star. She was the head bookkeeper for Midas Muffler and Ginger s Lady s Wear and also enjoyed reading and gardening.

On Oct. 23, 1948, Lorene was united in marriage with Paul Confer, who survives her of the home. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Arline Confer of Holiday Island and Adrease Confer of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Nadine and husband Herman Westmeyer of Chanute, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Schuessler of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, David Confer and wife Debbie of Flower Mound, Texas, Michael Confer and wife Teresa of Overland Park, Kan., Cindy and husband Michael Coldiron of Wichita, Kan., and Diane and husband Larry Dixon of Anderson, S.C.; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two step-sons; Bill Confer and David Confer; and two brothers.
