CLAUDINE A. KAPPEN, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Eureka Springs, a daughter of William B. and Gertrude Rebecca (Boyd) Terrill. She died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Eureka Springs at the age of 90.

Mrs. Kappen was a homemaker. She loved cooking for her family, gardening, and also loved to go fishing when she could. She loved the Lord and was a member of Eureka Springs First Assembly of God Church. She also worked at Kappen's Market, was a lunch room attendant at the Eureka Springs Schools, and held various other jobs around town. She and her late husband, Rev. Robert Kappen, also had a nursing home ministry in Eureka Springs.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn and husband Larry Wolfinbarger; two sons, Donald Kappen and wife Kathy, and Ronald Kappen and wife Nancy, one brother, Eddie Terrill, all of Eureka Springs; six grandchildren, Robert Wolfinbarger, Michael Wolfinbarger, Christie Edmondson, Austin Wolfinbarger, Amy Kappen, and Cathrine Kappen, all of Eureka Springs; six great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

On April 4, 1943, she was united in marriage with Robert B. Kappen, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by one son, Bobby Kappen, her parents, three brothers, infant Terrill, Dan Terrill, and Billy Terrill; and two sisters, Anna Mae Terrill and Pauline Bland.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Nelson's Chapel of the Springs with Vito Sawtell officiating. Interment followed in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
