Ray C. Collins
RAY C. COLLINS, 72, died Oct. 16, 2007, in Fallon, Calif.
Ray was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Osage, to Nerva and R.L. Collins. He had lived in Fallon for 14 years, moving there from Lodi, Calif.
Ray attended elementary and high school in Green Forest. He was in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959 and served in the Reserves until 1963.
Ray had an extensive career in the oil field drilling industry for 53 years. He was an expert in the field of geothermal energy, having supervised the drilling of countless wells in the state of Nevada, Stillwater and Dixie Valley, and Imperial Valley in California, Guatemala and Indonesia. Ray was very respected and well liked by all those he worked with in the oil and gas industry. He was a mentor to many young men in the industry.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved to barbeque.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Henry, James, Ernest, Nubern and Dearl.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Collins of Fallon; daughter Kelly Collins of Petaluma, Calif.; Stephen Collins of Lodi; and Ryan Collins of Lovelock, Nev.; grandsons Shaun, Brian and Michael; step-children Brenda Wilkins of Madera, Calif.; Tim Roberts of of Odessa, Texas; twin brother Fay and wife Shirley Collins of Manteca, Calif; sisters, Gertie Zajac of Valencia, Calif., Edna Layton and Goldie Buell, both of Osage, Mattie Head of Carpinteria, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service with military honors was held Nov. 16, 2007, at The Gardens Chapel in Fallon. Arrangements were under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home.
