Samuel Bruce Robinson

SAMUEL BRUCE ROBINSON was born in Madill, Okla. to Velma and John Ivan Robinson on Feb. 5, 1961. He attended Madill schools until 1976.

In 1976, his family moved to Tupelo, Miss. He graduated from Gateway College of Evangelism, where he met hisfuture wife, Leanne Carlton, formerly of Oak Grove. His ministerial career consisted of evangelizing and pastoring. He was currently pastoring the Madill United Pentecostal Church.

Formerly he had pastored the Christ Tabernacle Church in Blue Eye, Ark. and lived in the area for many years.

He was active in community service as a volunteer chaplain to the Army National Guard and ministerial alliance of Marshall County. Bruce also spent a year working at the Madill schools where his warm personality and hard work earned him many friends. Bruce was the caretaker of the Oakland Cemetery and took great pride in keeping the grounds looking nice.

He is survived by his wife, Leanne Carlton Robinson, of the home; three daughters Ashleigh and her husband Chevy McKinzie, of Springfield, Mo., Alyssa Robinson, of Madill, Okla., and Andrea Robinson, of Madill Okla.; his mother, Velma Robinson of Madill; five brothers, Jimmy Robinson of Lubbock, Texas; Larry Robinson of Madill, Okla., Jesse Robinson of Waxahatchie, Texas, Stephen Robinson of Washington, Mo., and Darrell Robinson of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mary Spencer, of Lubbock, Texas; brother-in-law Jackie Carlton and his wife Janita of Oak Grove; brother-in-law Jerry Dale Carlton and his wife Jacklynn of Green Forest; his father and mother-in-law Jerry and Pat Carlton of Oak Grove; and sister-in-law Lisa Martin and her husband Ed, of Edmond, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ivan Robinson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Madill, Okla. Rev. Paul Sharp and Rev. Paul Dowdy officiated.

Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Okla. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Madill. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
