CLAIRE RICH, a resident of Berryville, was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Central City, Iowa, a son of Fred Thompson and Ida Francis (Smith) Rich. He died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, in Berryville, at the age of 87.

Mr. Rich is survived by two sons, Charlie Rich and wife JoAnn of Berryville, and Leo Smith of Onslow, Iowa; six grandchildren, Matthew Rich, Jarred Rich, James Smith, Jennie Smith, Jackie Helgens, and Leo Smith, Jr.; and a host of other family and friends.

On June 10, 1953, he was united in marriage with Hazel Marie Wolfe, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents and six brothers, Mervil, John, Neal, Oscar, Fred, and George and three sisters, Bertha, Esther, and Hazel.

Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the Boulder Cemetery in Central City, Iowa ,with Brother James Smith officiating under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
