Berryville lands a well-stocked Sears store

BERRYVILLE -- A Sears store opened in Berryville Friday, offering name brand appliances, tools, lawn and garden equipment and much more -- seven days a week.

The 5,250 foot showroom is located in the Williams Shopping Center, in a storefront once occupied by True Value Hardware.

Brian Wright, of Wright Accounting, who is a corporate officer with Williams Home Furnishings located next door, said he is the owner of the Sears authorized dealer store.

"I felt like this was a real good fit for Berryville and the shopping center," he said. "I liked the Sears plan and felt it was a good thing to invest in."

Wright said he started the process in July and it has been whirlwind ever since.

Besides remodeling the store by installing upstairs restrooms, new windows, flooring, sheetrock, fixtures and a fresh coat of paint, Wright said he attended three days of training in Sedalia, Mo., and another week of training a Sears corporate headquarters in Chicago.

"Inventory started arriving Nov. 12, and I've been going hard at it ever since," he said.

Helping him along the way has been Mike Pitts, "my right hand man," Wright explained, who was responsible for much of the remodel and set up work.

Wright will also be getting help from his family, including parents Obe and Maxine Wright, his wife Shirley Ann, and two sons Jacob and Ben.

"It's a family business," Wright explained.

Besides carrying six major bands of appliances; Kenmore, General Electric, Whirlpool, Maytag, Fridgidaire and Bosch, Wright said he stocks Craftsmen tools, water heaters, vacuum cleaners, mowers, chain saws, garden tools, treadmills and more.

"If I don't have it, I can get it in a couple of days," he said. "If you don't see it, please ask."

Delivery is available, he said, and store hours are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call Wright at the Sears store. The number is (870) 423-2122.
