Mrs. Prentice was the owner and operator of Virginia's His and Her Hair Styling since 1978. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers, volunteered at the Berryville Elementary School, and was a former member of the Carroll County Fair Board. Virginia was a judge for several different county fairs in the area judging food and crafts. She was also talented in needle work, painting and craft making.
Virginia is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Zavala of Berryville; three granddaughters, Ally, Annie and Aryn Prentice; and two grandsons, Stephen and Felipe Diaz, all of Berryville; three sisters, Frances and husband Larry Ogle, Shirley and husband Jerry Kilburn, and Cathy and husband David Carter all of Harrison,; two brothers, Johnny and wife Linda Burnett of Harrison, and James and wife Edie Burnett of Neosho, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
On June 21, 1968, she was united in marriage with Larry Shaw Prentice, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents and one son, Stephen Sims.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville with Jeremie Bridges officiating. Interment followed in the Hilltop Cemetery, near Compton.
