DON A. WESTPHAL, a resident of Berryville, was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Adair County, Iowa, a son of Levi E. and Emma Diers Westphal. He died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, in Berryville, at the age of 75.

Mr. Westphal was a veteran, having served in the Army from 1953-1955. He was a carpenter and built several homes in the Bull Shoals Lake and Stuart, Iowa, areas before retiring to his home in Berryville in 1997.

On July 4, 1992, Don was united in marriage with Judy (Moss) Shaw, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Steven L. Westphal of Filer, Idaho and Scott Westphal of Townsend, Mont.; two daughters, Cynthia McPherson of West Fork, and Beth Hattenhauer of Berryville; three step-children, Beth and Anne Shaw of Minneapolis, Minn.and Dan Shaw of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, Brandee Locke, September Creamer and Jerry (B.J.) Creamer; three great-grandchildren, Sarah and BreeAnna Creamer and EmmaLee Mejia; two brothers, Marvin Westphal of Fontanelle, Iowa and Bill Westphal of Greenfield, Iowa; one sister, Macel Brower of Massena, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Westphal was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gerald Westphal of Berryville, and one grandchild, Jaime Richardson of Berryville.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville, with Elder Hank Frahm officiating. Interment will follow in the High Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
