Mr. Boutwell was Dean of Students at Vanderbilt University for many years. He was the director of the annual fundraiser at Vanderbilt University, Associate Vice President of Development for Vanderbilt University, a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, in which he held four national offices, and was also trustee of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation.
In 1961, he was nationally honored as the youngest dean of students of a major university. He was a former Realtor of the Year, a member of the Environmental Affairs Committee, Secretary and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Eureka Springs, a former member of the Eureka Springs Park Commission, an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Eureka Springs, and a member of the National Board of Presbyterian Men. He spent the later part of his retirement in Thailand.
He is survived by one nephew, Robert Bryant of Atlanta, Ga.; one cousin, Kenneth Bryant of Macon, Ga.; his Godson, T Gallen Stone of Kansas City, Mo.; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Benjamin Boutwell.
