Christine D. Marler

CHRISTINE D. MARLER, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born June 14, 1924, in Shaw, Miss., a daughter of John Edgar and Addie Lou (Wallis) Duke. She died on Friday, July 6, 2007, in Fayetteville, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Marler was an operations officer for various banks. She was a member of the Eureka Springs Garden Club, a member of various church boards, and a member of the Eureka Springs Hospital Auxiliary.

On Dec. 30, 1944, she was united in marriage with Lawrence A. Marler, who survives her of the home. She is also survived by two sons, Thomas Marler and wife Patty of Memphis, Tenn, and James Marler and wife Tina of Pine River, Calif.; three grandchildren, Pamela Ann Matsunga of Greece, Rory Marler of California, and Crystal and husband Douglas Gunnels of Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Thomas Duke Marler Jr. and Cassandra Marler.

Visitation will be July 10, 2007, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Nelson s Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka Springs with Stan Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Eureka Springs Cemetery.
