Charles H. Brooks, Jr.
CHARLES H. BROOKS, JR., 56, of Green Forest, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1950, in Waverly, Mo. (Lafayette County) to the late Charles Howard Brooks, Sr. and Olean Brooks.
On Oct. 20, 1973, Charles married Julia Jones Brooks. To this union, three sons were born. He was employed for several years as a deputy sheriff for the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department in Kansas City, Kan.
After moving to Carroll County in 2001, Mr. Brooks worked as a sales clerk for O'Reilly Auto Parts in Berryville. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, working with leather, was an auctioneer and was very devoted to his family. His grandchildren called him "Grandpa Piggy," and it became his nickname.
He was a member of Osage Baptist Church and loved attending the services.
Charles is survived by his wife, Julia, of the home; sons William Brooks of Green Forest, Joshua Brooks of Kansas City, Kan., and Matthew Brooks of Green Forest; three grandsons, Connor, Cameron and Brock Brooks; and soon-to-be-born granddaughter, Angel Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of life services were to be held Friday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at Osage Baptist Church with Bro. Lanny Younger and Rev. Patrick "Bud" Jones officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
