Lady Tiger softball team falls to Pottsville in state tourney action
SEARCY -- When a team reaches the state softball tournament there aren't any bad pitchers or bad games.
The Green Forest Lady Tigers proved that last Friday at the Class AAA?State Softball tournament in Searcy although they ended their season in a 2-0 loss to Pottsville.
"They are all close games at state and good softball,"?Coach Bill Niven said. "There were two good pitchers in our game. No walks, a really clean game.
"When you have good competition like that, the bats get silent. We only had three hits. We hit the ball, but they were weak hits.
"We did a real good job on defense in the outfield, Misti Baker and Jackie Webb, and fielded the ball and threw, just like everybody else.
"It was the first time a Lady Tiger team got that far,"
?Niven said. "They pulled together the last part of the season and had a pretty good year. The girls have a lot to be proud of."
Senior pitcher Tori Allen struck out six, gave up no walks and scattered seven hits. The team left three on base.
Hits- Webb- 1/3; Courtney Ruff- 1/2; Allyson Goodman- 1/2.
