In her younger years, Eleneita lived in Homestead, Fla., where she was employed as an inspector at Brooks Vegetable Co. In 1988, she moved to Carroll County to retire. She liked gardening, visiting with friends, playing bingo and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be remembered as a strong willed woman with a quick sense of humor.
Elneita is survived by her daughters, Patsy Jones of Berryville, and Peggy Melendez of Homestead, Fla.; two sisters, Melba Hagberg of Adel, Ga., and Elouise Pilcher of Adel, Ga.; grandchildren Debbie Norman, Kathy Gardner of Green Forest, Connie Proctor all of Green Forest, Luis J. Melendez of Homestead, Christopher N. Melendez of Ohio, Maria Brown of Tampa, Fla., Melissa Cruz, Fred Melendez, Jason Melendez, Orlando Melendez all of Homestead; great-grandchildren Wesley Gardner, Jessie Gardner, Jeffery Gardner both of Green Forest, Cristina J. Brown, Jasmine Brown, Joan Brown all of Tampa, Omar Luis Cruz, Jasmine Cruz, Altiana Cruz all of Homestead, Brittany Melendez of Miami, Fla., Leah Atchley of Madison County, Jake Norman of Highlandville, Mo., Brandon Normal of Ozark, and great-great-grandson Patten Riley Gardner of Green Forest.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sons, Bobby Gene Bennett, William R. Bennett, and Joseph Wesley Bennett.
Celebration of life services were to be held Tuesday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at Smtih Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Brother Scott Cox and Dr. Randal Spurgin officiating, followed with interment in Farewell Cemetery.
