LITTLE ROCK -- A great pair of seasons have come to a halt.

The Berryville Lady Bobcat and Green Forest Lady Tiger soccer teams had great runs this season, with both advancing to the Class 4A State Soccer Tournament.

Both squads advanced to the second round with wins last Saturday, but their seasons ended with losses on Monday.

Berryville lost 4-0 to Episcopal Collegiate, while Green Forest fell 11-0 to defending champ Central Arkansas Christian.

Berryville finished with an 8-9-1 record on a day that Coach Don Earnest said was "super hot. We struggled with the heat. Episcopal was more athletic that day, more active.

"Danielle Reichenberg and Lisseth Barrios had a few chances for goals, but we struggled. We won more games this year than all the other years combined.

"I really appreciate the team's effort and how hard they played," Earnest said. "They made it to the second round (of state) and I'm proud of that.

"Our two seniors, Courtney Moore and Danielle, stepped up, and another senior, Mackenzie Howerton, came out and played for us."

Green Forest ran into a very talented Central Arkansas Christian team that advanced to the championship game today against Conway St. Joseph.

The Lady Tigers tied for first place in the 4A North conference with Berryville this year and advanced to the second round at state. The previous four years the team didn't have a win, so this was a turnaround season for Green Forest.
