Artie Smith Gunnels

ARTIE SMITH GUNNELS, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born April 14, 1917, in Carroll County, a daughter of Causby and Bessie (Bilyu) Smith. She died Thursday, March 22, 2007, in Eureka Springs at the age of 89.

Mrs. Gunnels was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Sherl Gunnels of Eureka Springs; three brothers, Roscoe Smith, Donald Gene Smith, and Leon Smith, all of Berryville; three sisters, Ovown Enix Gilmore of Harrison, Juanita Anderson of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Dorothy Lee Terry of Berryville; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

In 1950, she was united in marriage with Henry Gunnels, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; two brothers, Ovownal Smith and Aubry Smith; and one sister, Edna Smith Passmore.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Mark Bryant officiating.
