Harry Edward Janky
Harry Edward Janky, 69, of Holiday Island, passed away Feb. 28, 2007 after a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Corning, Iowa, the son of Mima and Rev. Edward Janky.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Janky, of Holiday Island, son Steve Janky and his wife Allison, of Eagan, Minn. Daughter Sarah Kisti Stowell and her husband Dr. Jim Stowell of Lakeville, Mo. and grandchildren: Ally, Jonathan, Jacob Stowell and Ella and Thomas Janky; sisters Betty Shepherd and Donna Janky of Baton Rouge, La.
He was a graduate of the University of Dubuque, Iowa, Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing and the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia,
He was Chief Nurse Anesthetist at Divine Redeemer Hospital in St. Paul and later operated the Janky Anesthesia Service predominantly in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area and rural Missouri before retiring to Holiday Island.
He was active in many local, state and national nursing and anesthesia organizations and boards. He served as president of the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He was also a cardio-pulmonary instructor.
He lived in Faribault, Mo. for 32 years with his family and was active in Jaycees, Congregational church, Explorer Scouts as medical advisor and PTA co-president. He was a long-time member, since the beginning, of River Bend Nature Center in Faribault.
In Holiday Island, he was a Hospice volunteer, member of the Homeowners Association and Neighborhood Watch Captain, member of the Eureka Springs Area Dinner Club and on the Holiday Island Van steering committee as well as a volunteer van driver.
He had an unconditional love for his wife, children and grandchildren that will never be forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Janky home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.
