Jessie John Mercer
JESSIE JOHN MERCER, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born March 7, 1925, in Rapides Parrish, La., a son of Lee M. and Olive (Swinaford) Mercer. He died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in Eureka Springs, at the age of 81.
Mr. Mercer was a veteran, having served in the Navy during WWII. He was also a steel worker. Mr. Mercer attended the Beaver Lake Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his three sons, Ronald W. and his wife Vicki Mercer of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael and his wife Debra Mercer of Eureka Springs, and Charles A. Mercer of Palm Springs, Calif.; one brother, Bill Sinclair of Florida; one sister, Betty Hawthorne of Pineville, La.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
On Nov. 3, 1946, he was united in marriage with Marie O'Quin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Graveside services were to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2007, at the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Rapides Parrish, La., with Pastor Mike Mercer officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at nelsonfuneral.com.
